Emergency Fund anyone??

So given the economic times are very low at this moment, President Obama's speech gave me hope for all of us, and I hope that all of his economic stimulus plan comes through so that we can all live the American life we should be living! This is definitely not the American Dream happening for most people in the USA right now.

Our family is fortunate to all have stable jobs and income--and have not been hit with layoffs as some have--which brings me to the subject of emergency funds. Or rainy day fund, or safe and sound money. Do you have it? We have an account through ING direct for this purpose...but it is nowhere near the 3-6 months of savings that is recommended! Gosh, that would be lovely wouldn't it? If I worked full time again, it would be doable. But now that I do not, most of our income goes to the house! I would love to have savings for a rainy day...but baby steps is where we will start, and my goal for the family is to have this cushion in about 12 months. In 12 months I would also hope that Zayden would have a baby brother or sister on the way, so it would truly be a NEST egg for us!

I am going to contribute once a month to Zayden's blog about saving money, and if anyone has any other tips, let me know! or comment to us. Here is my tip for now:
-Track your spending, keep receipts, even for the smallest purchase and LOG it! This will help you actually see where your money is going!

Happy saving!
